On 3 March 1999, former Oasis drummer Tony McCarroll reached an out-of-court settlement with the band over royalties. The agreement was reached shortly before the dispute was due to go to trial.

McCarroll accepted a reported lump sum of £600,000 and gave up claims to future royalties. He had played on Definitely Maybe and early Oasis singles before being dismissed in 1995 and replaced by Alan White.

The settlement brought a formal end to one of the most significant disputes from Oasis’ early history. It also underlined how quickly the band’s rise had turned personal and creative disagreements from the club era into arguments involving substantial long-term record income.
