In November 1999, Gem Archer - Oasis and Flying Birds Guitarist | The Flying Birds joined Oasis on guitar following the departure of founding member Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs. Archer had previously fronted Heavy Stereo, bringing experience as a guitarist, singer and songwriter.

One of his first duties was filming the video for Go Let It Out. Archer appeared with the band in the video, but he had not played on the recording: Standing on the Shoulder of Giants was already finished when he joined. He then had to learn the existing catalogue and the new songs ahead of Oasis’s return to the stage.

Archer became a lasting part of the rebuilt line-up, remaining with Oasis until their 2009 split. He later played with Liam Gallagher in Beady Eye and with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, before returning for the Oasis reunion
