Richard Ashcroft Returns for Oasis Live ’27 — This Time for Every Show
Richard Ashcroft will return as special guest for every date of Oasis Live ’27, extending a musical relationship with Liam and Noel Gallagher that now stretches back more than three decades.
The former Verve frontman was one of the defining support acts of Oasis’ 2025 reunion, appearing across the UK and Ireland dates before the Gallagher brothers took to the stage.
For 2027, his role becomes even bigger.
Ashcroft has been confirmed for the entire 38-show tour, meaning he will join Oasis not only in Glasgow, Manchester, Slane and Knebworth, but across Europe and the United States as well.
It makes him less a conventional support act and more a continuing part of the Oasis reunion story.
From tiny venues to stadiums
The connection between Oasis and Richard Ashcroft predates Britpop becoming a national phenomenon.
In 1993, before Oasis had even released Supersonic, the Manchester band supported The Verve on tour, playing rooms that sometimes held only a few hundred people.
The positions would later reverse.
By 1995, The Verve were appearing with Oasis, including a show at the Bataclan in Paris, as both bands moved towards the period that would define their careers.
Their relationship was never merely a matter of sharing bills.
Noel Gallagher dedicated Cast No Shadow, from (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, to Ashcroft, while Ashcroft later contributed backing vocals to All Around the World on Be Here Now.
Years later, Liam Gallagher appeared with Ashcroft on a new version of C’mon People (We’re Making It Now) for his 2021 Acoustic Hymns Vol. 1 project.
The two careers have repeatedly crossed ever since.
Ashcroft became part of Live ’25
When Oasis announced Richard Ashcroft for the UK and Ireland section of the 2025 reunion tour, there was an obvious nostalgic appeal.
But once the shows began, his involvement became something more substantial.
Sets built around songs including Sonnet, Lucky Man, The Drugs Don’t Work, A Song for the Lovers and Bitter Sweet Symphony gave the stadium crowds what was effectively another major British headline catalogue before Oasis even arrived on stage.
Ashcroft had already made clear how personally he viewed the invitation.
When his involvement in Live ’25 was originally announced, he described himself as a fan of Oasis “from day one” and credited Noel’s songwriting and Liam’s presence as a singer with inspiring some of his own best work.
He specifically singled out Live Forever as a song that pushed him to raise his own ambitions as a songwriter.
That history helped make Ashcroft feel unusually well suited to the reunion.
Now Oasis have chosen to take him around the world.
Live ’27 makes the partnership global
Oasis Live ’27 consists of 38 shows across 11 locations, beginning with five nights at Celtic Park in Glasgow in May before moving to Manchester for an extraordinary 11-date Etihad Stadium residency.
The European leg takes Oasis and Ashcroft through Munich, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Paris and Rome before the tour reaches Boston and Las Vegas in August.
September brings two nights at Slane Castle before the entire run concludes with four concerts at Knebworth.
For Ashcroft, that means appearing at some of the most symbolically significant concerts of the reunion.
Knebworth inevitably carries the greatest historical weight. Oasis’ two 1996 concerts there became shorthand for the extraordinary scale the band had reached at the height of Britpop.
Thirty-one years later, Ashcroft will be there when they return.
It also brings the story back to Paris
Paris is another interesting stop.
Oasis’ July 2027 Stade de France shows will return the Gallaghers to a city permanently connected with the band's original ending after the confrontation at Rock en Seine in 2009.
Ashcroft's presence adds another, much earlier connection.
The Verve supported Oasis at the Bataclan in Paris in 1995, when both bands were moving rapidly towards their commercial peaks.
The scale could hardly be more different in 2027.
What began with the two bands crossing paths in clubs and theatres will now continue inside the Stade de France.
More than a nostalgia booking
It would be easy to describe the pairing simply as another celebration of Nineties British guitar music.
There is obviously an element of that.
Oasis and The Verve produced some of the defining records of the decade, and the idea of hearing Bitter Sweet Symphony, The Drugs Don’t Work, Live Forever and Don’t Look Back in Anger on the same night carries an obvious appeal.
But Ashcroft’s place on the tour feels slightly different from simply adding another famous contemporary.
He was there before Oasis became Oasis.
Their careers developed alongside one another, the musicians influenced each other, and the relationship survived long after both bands' original Nineties runs ended.
Ashcroft then became part of the reunion itself in 2025.
Taking him on all 38 dates suggests Oasis recognised how well that partnership worked.
Oasis Live ’27 ticket registration
Fans wanting tickets for Oasis Live ’27 need to complete the official registration process.
Registration remains open until 4pm BST on Thursday, 17 September 2026.
There will be no conventional general sale. Oasis have confirmed that registration is the only route through which fans can gain access to tickets, with the system intended to reduce queues and organised touting.
Successful applicants will then receive access to the relevant ticket purchasing window.
Demand is expected to be enormous following the scale of the 2025 reunion and the inclusion of venues that carry particular significance for the band.
A relationship that has come full circle
There is something fitting about Richard Ashcroft's expanded role in Live ’27.
In 1993, Oasis were the young support band walking onto stages before The Verve.
By the middle of the decade, both bands had become central figures in British rock.
Thirty years later, Ashcroft stood in stadiums opening for the Oasis reunion.
Now he will follow them around Britain, Ireland, continental Europe and America before ending the tour at Knebworth.
That gives Live ’27 another thread connecting the version of Oasis returning today with the world from which the band originally emerged.
And for anyone who watched Ashcroft's reception during Live ’25, his return probably will not feel particularly surprising.
He became part of the occasion.
In 2027, Oasis are taking that occasion around the world.
Oasis Live ’27 begins at Celtic Park, Glasgow on 21 May 2027 and concludes at Knebworth on 19 September. Ticket registration closes at 4pm BST on 17 September 2026.
