The show opened with “Shoot a Hole Into the Sun” on tape before Noel and the band launched into “Do the Damage,” “(Stranded On) The Wrong Beach,” and “Everybody’s on the Run.” From there, the night moved with real purpose. Material from Chasing Yesterday sat comfortably alongside songs from the first High Flying Birds album, while the bigger Oasis moments were spaced carefully through the set to keep the room locked in.

A contemporary review from Live in Limbo described the crowd as close to sold out and said the audience stood for the full show, with newer solo material mixing naturally with the older favourites. That balance was really the point of Noel’s live set in 2015. This was not a nostalgia act pretending to be something new, and it was not a clean break from the past either. It was Noel using both sides of his catalogue to show that the solo band had real weight of its own.

The Oasis selections told their own story. Rather than lean on the most obvious choices, Noel pulled out “Fade Away,” “Champagne Supernova,” “Digsy’s Dinner,” “The Masterplan,” and “Don’t Look Back in Anger.” According to the same review, he skipped “Wonderwall”, which made the set feel a little less predictable and a little more tailored to the kind of crowd that had followed him beyond Oasis. By the encore, “The Masterplan” and “Don’t Look Back in Anger” gave Toronto exactly the kind of cathartic finish a Noel Gallagher crowd wanted.

What also stands out now is how strong the Chasing Yesterday material looked on stage. “In the Heat of the Moment,” “Lock All the Doors,” “Riverman,” “Ballad of the Mighty I,” “The Dying of the Light,” and “You Know We Can’t Go Back” were not filler between the classics. They were central to the night. The setlist shows eight songs from Chasing Yesterday, seven from Noel’s debut solo album, and five Oasis numbers, which says plenty about how Noel was presenting himself in 2015: not just as the former chief songwriter of Oasis, but as an artist building a second catalogue that could stand alongside the first.

Looking back, Toronto on 4 May 2015 feels like a snapshot of Noel in a particularly settled phase. The band was tight, the set was structured with confidence, and the old songs were used not as a crutch but as punctuation. For fans in the room, it was a chance to hear the new era taking shape in real time. For those looking back now, it remains a strong reminder that Noel’s second act had properly found its feet.
