The win means “Live Forever” has now finished at number one for the fourth year running, underlining the song’s lasting status with Radio X listeners. The station linked this year’s result to Oasis’s huge reunion momentum, noting the band’s major comeback activity over the previous year.

Oasis did not just take the top spot either. They also placed “Slide Away” at number four and “Champagne Supernova” at number five, giving the band three songs inside the top five. The rest of the top five was made up of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” at number two and The Stone Roses’ “I Am The Resurrection” at number three.

The full top 100 underlined just how dominant Oasis remained throughout the vote. Alongside the songs in the top five, “Acquiesce” reached number 14, “Don’t Look Back In Anger” came in at 17, “The Masterplan” at 24, “Supersonic” at 39 and “Wonderwall” at 66.

Across the full chart, Radio X said Oasis had 33 songs in the top 500, more than any other act in the countdown. The station also said Manchester was the second most represented city in the poll, with 91 songs from 14 different artists, showing again how strongly the city’s musical legacy continues to shape this kind of listener vote.

For Oasis, it is another reminder of how deeply their catalogue still connects with British audiences. More than three decades after “Live Forever” first appeared on Definitely Maybe, the song remains not just a fan favourite but, at least according to Radio X listeners, the benchmark by which all other British songs are still judged.
