On 30 May 1999, Noel Gallagher appeared at the Kosovo Aid Benefit Party at the HMV Forum in London. Performing without Oasis, he delivered a compact acoustic set as part of an event raising support amid the humanitarian crisis in Kosovo.
The performance included Oasis material and a cover of The Verve’s Bittersweet Symphony. Noel’s stripped-back version placed the melody and lyric at the centre, reflecting the musical friendship between Oasis and The Verve and the shared history of the two bands.
The appearance arrived while Oasis were working on their fourth album and largely absent from the concert circuit. It gave audiences a rare live glimpse of Noel during a transitional year and anticipated the solo acoustic performances that would become an important part of his later career.
