The piano, a walnut Yamaha E108, was presented to Bonehead in 1996, during the height of Oasis's fame. Bonehead, a co-founder of the band, contributed to their first three albums: Definitely Maybe, (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, and Be Here Now. He departed from Oasis in 1999 but has been rumoured to participate in the band's 2025 reunion tour.

The auction, conducted by Piano Auctions Ltd in Watford, included a letter of authenticity signed by Bonehead. Sean McIlroy, director of the auction house, noted the rarity of such an item, stating, "As far as we are aware this is the first one of the four pianos gifted by Alan McGee to Oasis to come up at auction." He emphasized the instrument's appeal to fans and collectors, adding, "What makes it exciting is that Bonehead and possibly other band members will have played out elements of their songs on this piano."

The piano was estimated to fetch between £8,000 and £10,000. McIlroy anticipated interest from Oasis enthusiasts seeking a unique piece of the band's history, especially as a potential Christmas gift, though he acknowledged that prospective buyers would "need quite deep pockets."

This auction highlights the enduring legacy of Oasis and the continued fascination with artifacts from their influential career. As the band prepares for their reunion tour, such memorabilia offers fans a tangible connection to the music and moments that have defined a generation.
