My most confident style is -
A feeling sleeping deep inside
You hide it so I'll never find
Today, I think I'll waste your time
You never notice, you are blind
The dream I have can never be
To photograph what the eyes can't see
To fight to live another day
We live to find out, come what may
Faith in the Lord is something I can never have
Faith in my sister is gonna set me free
Faith in the Lord is something I will never have
'Cause the Lord I know don't got no faith in me
You're my lover
I'm your brother
You're my lover
I'm your brother
She gives me light when the sun goes down
She gives me strength that I don't drown
She gives me hope and destiny
She gives me air so I can breathe
Faith in the Lord is something I can never have
Faith in my sister is gonna set me free
Faith in the Lord is something I will never have
'Cause the Lord I know don't got no faith in me
And you're my lover
I'm your brother
You're my lover
I'm your brother (whoo)
Faith in the Lord is something I can never have
Faith in my sister is gonna set me free
Faith in the Lord is something I will never have
'Cause the Lord I know don't got no faith in me
And you're my lover
I'm your brother
You're my lover
I'm your brother
You're my lover
You're my lover
You're my lover
You're my lover

Notes
Noel Gallagher composed "My Sister Lover" during the sessions for Be Here Now, drawing from an early unreleased Oasis demo called "Lock All the Doors" from around 1993. The song reuses the opening lines from that demo—"A feeling sleeping deep inside / You hide it so I'll never find / Today I think I'll waste my time / You never notice, you are blind / The dream I have can never be / To photograph what the eye can't see / I fight to live another day"—but evolves into new territory with the rest of the lyrics.
"Lock All the Doors" itself was later reworked by Noel for his 2015 solo album Chasing Yesterday under the same title, showing how he revisited and refined old ideas over time. The song's title is believed to be inspired by a Scottish all-female band called Sister Lovers, whom Oasis knew in their early days.
Sister Lovers played a key role in Oasis's breakthrough by helping them secure a gig at Glasgow's King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in 1993, where Creation Records boss Alan McGee discovered and signed the band on the spot.
Lyrically, the track explores themes of hidden emotions, faith (or lack thereof), and complex relationships, with lines like "Faith in the lord is something I could never have / Faith in my sister is gonna set me free" and the chorus shifting from "You're my lover" to "I'm your brother."
Noel has given varying explanations, including a humorous anecdote about wishing for a sister but getting brother Liam instead, or it being about a girlfriend/soulmate—consistent with his habit of misleading about song meanings to allow personal interpretation.
Some interpretations suggest it projects the unconditional, sibling-like bond between Noel and Liam, with fluid roles in their dynamic.
"My Sister Lover" was recorded at Ridge Farm Studio in Surrey, UK, with Noel on lead and rhythm guitar plus backing vocals, Liam on lead vocals, Bonehead on rhythm guitar, Guigsy on bass, Alan White on drums, and Mike Rowe on piano.
It was produced by Noel Gallagher and Owen Morris, with mastering by Mike Marsh.
The track debuted on September 22, 1997, as one of the B-sides to "Stand by Me," alongside "(I Got) The Fever" and "Going Nowhere."
A Mustique Demo version was later included on the 2016 deluxe remastered edition of Be Here Now.
Despite its depth, the song has been described as an unsung gem from Oasis's cocaine-fuelled Be Here Now era, ranking highly in retrospectives like Mojo magazine's list of every Oasis B-side for its dark-to-light dynamics and unexpected quality amid the album's critical re-evaluation.
It has never been performed live by the band and remains one of their more overlooked tracks, though fans praise its "dark" sound when played loud.
